Is anyone else as devastated as I am that Yahoo! just bought out Tumblr?
I think the whole neighborhood could hear my heart snap in two. :(
Life.
My awesome friend Tiina of Dragondust Studios has been taking the shed skin of her Brazilian rainbow boa and making awesome pendants that capture all the natural iridescence of the snakeskin with gorgeous vibrant colors. They are super pretty!! Pictures don’t even capture half of it. Plus by wearing it you’re technically a snake charm-er, which makes them double-awesome.

#get these motherfucking snakes off my motherfucking necklace #snake charmer
I LOVE the rainbow one, but personally I’m just waiting for another aqua colored pendant to come back in stock! Muuust… haaave….!
Everyone on my Tumblr dash, PLEASE watch this. Especially if you are a creative artist:
Adobe is going to scrap their hard copies (disks) for their software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash), and have you pay a subscription for the latest software called the Adobe Creative Cloud. $50 per month. Could you really afford such an expense in the long run?
This is really disturbing. Please hear what he has to say, it really is a serious situation for working artists. Pass this along so others may know about the Adobe Creative Cloud and how horrible it is.
Yep… Just went to see how much Flash costs. You know, to just buy the program? Guess what? After spending a while looking, it appears that you CAN’T anymore. You have to pay an outrageous subscription fee. I hate adobe. Is there a petition going around to stop this nonsense? Because I want to sign it.
Thanks! I know a lot of artists and people who like art follow me. You guys should go sign that.

Another WIP post for you guys! I didn’t save a lot of very god in between steps for this one, so I hope to fill in the blanks a bit when I explain each WIP stage. I ended up doing a lot more shifting and proportion changing as I work than I usually do, so the gif kind of shifts around instead of filling in like it usually does.
Step 1 - After we chose from three gesture sketches, I refined the on we chose! I think this one was the best because of the cool circular feel of it.
Step 2 - Lay in some flat colors for this gal, underneath the sketch layer as usual.
Step 3 - I placed the shadow layer in (set to multiply) and apply the basic light and shadow shapes. Since the fire/magic is green, I choose greens for both colors. Kind of had to fudge the light somewhat to show the form the way I wanted.
Step 4 - Here is where I jumped a bit on progress. I added some cool bluer tones into the shadowed areas on the shadow layer to hint at some reflected light. Then, on a new layer set to overlay, I built up the form both in shadow and in light areas. She ends up looking somewhat washed out and too light at this stage.
Step 5 - Blocked in the basic fire shapes and colors. Also added a new layer set to multiply to the figure, to darken up the shadow areas so she isn’t so washed out.
Finish stage - On a new layer on top of everything, I use the eye dropper tool to choose colors to paint in fine details and refine everything. I refined the fire on a separate layer so I could turn the opacity down and give it a little transparency. Added a watercolor texture on top (set to multiply) and did final adjustments!

I REALLY love seeing these WIPs from you! I’m so glad that you take the time to make a gif and even write down all the steps. You are fantastic and I love your art. <3
